A unique gastronomic experience in Cuenca

Warmikuna

“Warmikuna Kitchen Workshop”, is a space dedicated to honoring the gastronomic legacy of the indigenous, Afro-descendant and mestizo peoples of our country, betting in this way to position Ecuadorian cuisine as one of the best in the world.

“Warmikuna Kitchen Workshop” (warmikuna means women), opened its doors in 2008, by the hand of the chef Catalina Abad Rodas, who since childhood and through her mother and grandmother received knowledge, knowledge and social rituals established around food and its preparation.

With the passage of time, Catalina understood that the gastronomic richness of our country and region must be shown to the world, therefore, through her kitchen-workshop (unique in Cuenca) it takes elements of the national culinary task and makes them technically and playfully available to those who are eager to learn about our cultural roots and gastronomic memories.

Theoretical -practical class

Every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. there is a theoretical-practical class.

You can choose a 3-course menu based on dishes from the 4 regions of the country, this menu is chosen from 16 options to choose from. Additionally, and with an extra cost, it is possible to tour a traditional market in the city and learn about the great variety of vegetables and fruits.

Remember, it is recommended to book each class in advance.

Every day, however, it is possible to try the restaurant’s menu, which has been prepared around dishes, drinks and sweets from the four regions of the country; do not forget to serve tortillas, empanadas, a series of wraps, locro de papas, etc; as well as delight yourself with the famous tocte foot, cheese cake with tocte, the nogadas, chicha de jora, etc.
